How to Hand Things Over When It’s All in Your Head

How to Hand things Over when its all in Your Head

One of the things that quite a lot of stressed-out business owners say to me when they’re thinking about taking on a VA is:

“How on earth can I pass things over when it’s all in my head?”

It’s such a common worry, and a fair one. But it’s a bit like anything new, isn’t it? How on earth can I learn a language when I don’t know the grammar? How on earth can I learn to dance when there’s so much to take in?

The truth is, you just have to start. You don’t have to do it all in one day.

The beauty of working with a freelance VA is that you can start small. You don’t need to commit to full-time hours or hand everything over at once. It could be as simple as an hour a week on one task that feels easy to delegate, something that takes up space in your mind but doesn’t need to.

Once you feel that lightness of not having to do it yourself, it becomes easier to see what else could go next.

A good VA will walk beside you in that process, helping you figure out your priorities, noticing what could be simplified, and supporting you to build trust as you go.

Here are a few gentle tips to make handing things over feel easier:
🌿 Start with what drains you most (but isn’t too complex)
🌿 Record a quick Loom video while you are doing it instead of writing instructions
🌿 Keep a “Could Hand Over” list in your notes, just ideas for later
🌿 Check in regularly and celebrate the space you’re creating
